Big Boy Surfer Themed Room

We had so many things we wanted to get done before the baby came, one of which was Bennett's big boy room. It was done except for a few wood working projects the hubby was working on before Grayson made his arrival early. If we had a girl I wanted to do a hawaiian/beachy theme, which if you know us know Hawaii holds a very special place in our heart ❤️. Since we ended up having another boy I knew I wanted to somehow use a beach theme but make it for one of our little guys. My hubby suggested surfer theme and we both fell in love with the idea!

It started with TONS of paint samples, thank goodness for Lowe's 99 cent sample sale the weekend we were looking! We narrowed it down to two colors we liked and my awesome friend had the idea to do a tall border/chair rail out so we could use both. My husband found the perfect light gray wood stain for the border and he got to work. I am the first to admit I am not very crafty, thank goodness my hubby is amazing at DIY, wood working...pretty much any idea I throw his way!

Handmade 5 ft. surfboard made by my amazing hubby. We used leftover sample paint to choose the colors to cut extra costs!

Handmade height chart, using the same wood stain as the chair rail to help tie together the room.

Height Chart and Blackout shade from Lowes

Gray & blues are perfect for this surfer room!
I didn't get a good picture of his bed, had to stop to nurse little man. But the sheets are PERFECT! Surfer sheets from Pottery Barn Kids!

Love this bookcase from Target in gray, perfect for this surfer room!

Handmade height chart & Surfboard. Bin from Homegoods; bookcase from Target; black out shade from Lowes.

It turned out amazing and our big guy loves it! We didn't want cheesy surfer, rather we were going for something that would be timeless and not something he would outgrow in a year or two. Can't wait to watch him grow up in this room and am so happy we can bring his height chart with him when we eventually move so we will always remember!

Baby Grayson

Grayson James Taylor

Our little man's due date was September 6th, and with me being 5 days late with our oldest neither of us thought Grayson would be early. At 38 weeks baby boy was still breech (I had been trying everything to get him to turn!) , which led us to having another ultrasound and a consult with a specialist. We had a 65% chance of an ECV working (an external cephalic version) where they manually flip the baby head down. The next day we went into the hospital for the procedure and it was a success! The whole thing took less than 5 minutes and he turned very easily!

Fast forward less than 72 hours and I woke up having cramping around 1 in the morning. It was not as strong as it was with Bennett so wasn't sure if it was labor or just Braxton Hicks. Turns out it was labor and within 5 hours baby boy had arrived, weighing 7 lbs and 19 inches long. I had heard the 2nd labor goes quick but I had no idea it would go that quickly!

Grayson ended up having an extended stay in the NICU as he caught an infection during delivery. It is definitely scary hearing your baby has to be in the NICU, but it made it easier having such amazing nurses for him. A week later we were able to bring him home and big brother is adjusting and loving having "baby brother" around.

Babymoon

We were lucky enough to sneak away for a whole weekend a few months ago for our 2nd Babymoon. It is so important for us to get some time just the two of us, especially before baby #2 arrives! We chose to stay at the Omni Montelucia in Scottsdale since I had such a great experience there from my moms weekend in early June.

Yummy treats upon arrival at the resort
1 of 2 rooms with a clawfoot tub...so relaxing!!

Obligatory bump picture in the room

View from our balcony

Upon arrival they brought us Martinellis and truffles, the perfect way to a preggo mamas heart! We kept the whole weekend very low key; laying by the pool, napping, movies and good food. It was just what we needed! I would highly recommend this resort; the staff is great, perfect location and incredibly romantic!!

First night out for dinner at Hopdoddy's
Pool day was so relaxing

The grounds of the resort were absolutely gorgeous

XOXO

Bumping at 29 weeks

Dinner before our movie at iPic

Bumpin with Baby Boy #2

With my first pregnancy I documented everything about it, including a ton of pictures. Second time around with a lot less energy and time I have majorly dropped the ball, and with this pregnancy coming to an end it was time to document at least some of it! Getting a two year old to cooperate for pictures is almost impossible but he was a trooper in the heat.  Only 3 more weeks to go until we meet our 2nd little man!

Mommas Weekend

Earlier this summer my momma friends and I had a weekend away, it was amazing and completely relaxing!! It is so important when you're a mom to have your "mom tribe" of people who get what motherhood is like and have kiddos around the same age. We all have boys, all born the same year, and 2 of us are expecting our 2nd boys within a month of each other.

We kept it close to home to have as much time as possible and headed up to Scottsdale, AZ to the Omni Montelucia Resort & Spa. Although the weekend we went Scottsdale reached record temps (up to 117 in June) it was still perfect! First thing we did was a spa day, if you are looking for a great spa I highly recommend the Joya Spa at the Omni. Their treatments were nothing but incredible and the amenities in the spa & spa pool were top notch! For us preggo mamas they even had a belly pillow which allowed us to lay on our bellies for the massage, if you are or ever have been preggo you know just how special this is!

The rest of our stay there was super low key, which is vastly different than our day to day of chasing around rambunctious boys. We lazed around the pool all day then headed to Primp & Blow that afternoon to get our hair done before dinner. It was so nice to not have to worry about getting ready to go out and allowed us to have more time to relax.

Pool Day at the Omni
Dinner and Virgin Pina Coladas at Tommy Bahama Restaurant

I can't wait until our mommas weekend next year, this will definitely become a yearly tradition. It is so important once you become a parent to have that time to recharge and relax! Thank goodness for our mom tribe!
